About The Designer

Education

I am originally from beautiful Colorado, but in fall 2018 I moved to Los Angeles in order to pursue a career in Fashion Design and attend The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM). My first two years of my A.A. in Fashion Design were full of garment construction classes, illustration workshops, computer -aided design projects, textile experiments, merchandising courses, collaboration, and building connections with classmates. I learned about the fundamentals of design through fashion-colored lenses and I thoroughly enjoyed developing collections from sketch to production! Towards the end of my first program, I recognized that it was gratifying to pull in inspiration from my favorite films and TV shows when I was designing my looks.

I decided to take on another A.A. program in Film & TV Costume Design in the fall of 2020 so that I could expand upon my skillset and begin designing for characters and stories beyond client demographics. It was during this specialization that I had the opportunity to break down scripts, design for student films, illustrate digitally, create made-to-order pieces, shop for costume looks, become a historian, coordinate budgets, and supervise for a costume department. I flourished while cultivating new mood boards and concepts for characters I already admired.

Finally, I rounded out my education with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Professional Studies. I took classes from two other schools outside of FIDM to accelerate my journey and graduate early. From brushing up on my public speaking skills to writing a 65-page paper about an ethical issue of personal importance, my B.A. program gave me the scholarly foundation I needed to excel as a business professional. I am glad that I pursued higher education because it allowed me to dive into my career and gain knowledge about topics that were most interesting to me.

Costume Experience

After graduation, I began working as a specialty costume production assistant for LJ Shannon on TV shows such as Titans S4 (2022), Doom Patrol S4 (2022), and The Boys S4 (2023). I also assisted on a feature film entitled Red One that is expected to be released at the end of 2023. I helped manage the department’s costumes, shipping, returns, receipts, logistics, website, and costume change log, and I developed mood boards for the costume illustrators on Red One.

While working full time, I also designed a narrative/comedic feature film called Lady Parts. My responsibilities included styling, shopping, conducting fittings, breaking down scripts, documenting changes, maintaining continuity, and more. It was an incredible opportunity to be able to work with a female director and producer to bring an empowering story to life. Apart, the short film I worked on during my last year of college, gave me the skills I needed to succeed as a Costume Designer on Lady Parts. These diverse projects and my experience as a specialty costume assistant have inspired me to continue a career in design & entertainment.

About Me

I’ve been living in LA for over 4 years now and I have loved exploring the city, parks, beaches, and local events. My favorite thing about Los Angeles is going to new restaurants and historical sites near me- it is so cool to be able to taste foods from different cultures and learn about history in my immediate area! In addition to this, I also enjoy spending time with my miniature dachshund puppy Mowgli. He is a menace at times but he is such a sweetheart and is the best animal companion I could ask for. We love watching films such as the Harry Potter series, the Pirates of the Caribbean series, and classic Disney movies. Apart from these, I have a deep appreciation for films by Tim Burton, Christopher Nolan, and Wes Anderson. Sci-fi and Adventure film/television is my favorite! I can’t wait to eventually spend some time traveling so I can experience the wonders of the world that I’ve only seen through the media. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel outside of the country a few times but there is still so much I have yet to see!
